#BakewithLindaLIVE - Zoom Session

We’re hosting a LIVE bake-off with 2020’s Great British Bake Off contestant and more importantly our colleague and friend, Linda.

The super exciting #BakewithLindaLIVE will take place on Friday 26th February at 6pm.

This is a great opportunity to not only have some fun but also to get your hands on a signed copy of the Great British Bake Off book ‘Love to Bake’ and to make some yummy Drop Scones!

What will I need to make my Drop Scones?

To take part in the LIVE Bake Off and to be in with a chance of winning a signed copy of the Great British Bake Off book ‘Love to Bake’, you’ll need the following ingredients;

  • 225g / 8oz plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 290ml / 1/2 pint of milk whole or skimmed
  • 1oz / 25g unsalted butter

 

Equipment

  • Weighing scales
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring jug
  • Spatula
  • Electric hand mixer or hand whisk
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Ladle or large spoon
  • Frying pan or griddle pan
  • Fish slice

Method

  1. Melt the butter and set aside to cool
  2. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a large bowl and make a well in the centre.
  3. Add the egg yolks and a quarter of the milk, mix with a wooden spoon gradually drawing the flour from the sides to make a smooth batter. Add the remaining milk gradually.
  4. Fold in the melted butter and Whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the batter as well.
  5. Lightly grease a frying pan with or griddle and heat to really hot, drop spoonfuls of batter in the pan the size is up to you but there typically saucer size.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes, bubbles will rise to the surface of the batter check the underside has browned nicely and turned them over.
