Helping to provide the right start - a blog from our own Tenancy Service Officer, Hannah

Meet Shannon and her daughter. They recently became Stonewater customers. It was during their signup that I felt that Shannon needed some support.

She told me this was her first home and she wanted to make a cosy little home for her and her daughter.

She had saved up for some essential items such as a washing machine and sofa but was struggling to afford a cooker and a carpet. Essential items to make a real home.

I put Shannon in touch with Longleigh, to see if they could help her with one of their grants. I was so pleased to hear that she was successful in obtaining £500 for the items she needed to make her house a home. The carpet in particular was a real success as she used a local firm. They were able to offer her a really personal service to fit around the care of her daughter. Longleigh then made the payment directly to the carpet company.

Shannon is now well on her way to provide a loving home for herself and her daughter – and that makes me a very proud tenancy service officer!
