Making the most of each room – Week 3
My third post on how to make the most of any room, focuses on how different colours and finishes can change the mood of a room.
Hard surfaces such as laminate, mirrors, stainless steel and tiles, are quite clinical yet very easy to clean and hardwearing – complementing these with cool colours on your walls will make the room appear even more sterile. A great look for a kitchen and bathroom or if you’re after the trendy, urban ‘industrial looking’ in any room.
However, if you need some harder finishes such as laminate or tiles for cleanliness, but want a cosier, more relaxing vibe, simply team the hard surfaces up with heaps of different textures (e.g.: heavily textured towels, shaggy rugs, heavy looking curtains) in warmer, contrasting colours.
Cool colours:
- Green
- Teal
- Aqua
- Blue
- Purple
Warm colours:
- Purple
- Magenta
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
