Bell Group out and about in your communities

Bell Group, one of the contractors we work with to deliver services in certain areas, has been busy supporting local schools, community groups and environmental projects as part of their commitment to making a difference in the areas where they work! 

Supporting schools, colleges and careers 

In February, Bell Group delivered an online session for schools ahead of National Apprenticeship Week. This session explained who Bell Group are, apprenticeship routes they offer and what apprentices do day‑to‑day. A guide was also shared with students to help them understand the benefits of starting a career through an apprenticeship. 

Bell also ran some mock interviews for students at South Gloucestershire & Stroud College. These sessions helped young people practise interview skills, understand what employers look for and feel more confident when applying for roles. 

Supporting local communities 

Colleagues from Bell have begun volunteering regularly at the CentrePiece Community Café in Paignton, a welcoming space for local people that also supports the homeless. 

They've donated 18,000kg of mature cheese to the café after a direct request for support - this donation helps the café to provide nutritious meals for residents who may be struggling, while also preventing food waste. As well as this, they've donated a purpose‑built bug hotel, which provides shelter for insects such as bees, ladybirds and beetles, supporting local wildlife. Installed next to the community food pantry, it has encouraged many conversations about nature and sustainability! 

In March, Bell also donated Easter eggs to children receiving care in Torbay Hospital’s Emergency Department. The aim was to offer a small moment of comfort and normality for children and families during a difficult time. 

Caring for the environment 

Two litter picks were carried out by Bell Group at Itchen Valley Country Park and Lakeside Country Park this spring. Two bags of waste were collected at each site, helping keep the parks clean, protect wildlife and maintain these green spaces for visitors.
