A day in the life of a Mobile Associate: Helen’s Visit in Dorset

Last week I got a WhatsApp message asking me to go to and speak to customer who had fallen behind on their rent. Even though these visits aren’t always easy, I happily accepted.

Finances are never an easy topic to talk about at the best of times with people we are familiar with, let alone with customers who may have many other issues they are struggling to cope with. Still, I find that being there in person and discussing these issues face-to-face tends to be a very positive experience.

Today's visit was in the market town of Blandford in a wonderful new development of homes, situated in the grounds of the former Hall & Woodhouse brewery site and, once completed, are certainly going to be wonderful. The customer I visited today had a new home near the meadows surrounding the river and is only a short walk over a bridge or along the river’s abundant, verdant green banks into Blandford itself with its lovely individual shops and market.

The visit went well and will hopefully resolve the arrears that were outstanding for this customer. Whilst I was there, to make the most use of my time, I also completed an estate inspection and took photos of all the great new properties on the site to share with our lettings team.

Work like this is a pleasure for me; doing a job that contributes to helping people keep a roof over their heads in a very expensive part of the country is such a positive thing to be a part of. The added bonus of a beautiful scenic drive home nearly everywhere I go is certainly the icing on the cake.

Hmm, did someone say cake? Now there's an idea! Dorset Apple Cake here I come. Put the kettle on!
