Beware of Fake DVSA Parking Fine Texts

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has issued a warning about scam text messages being sent to people claiming that they have unpaid parking fines. We want to ensure our customers are aware of this scam and know how to protect themselves.

What to Look Out For:

Scammers are sending texts that appear to be from the DVSA, stating that you have a "parking penalty charge" and urging you to pay immediately. These messages often threaten serious consequences, like being banned from driving, additional fines, or even court action, if you don't pay up.

Some examples of the messages include:

  • "You have a parking penalty charge due... If you do not pay on time, your car may be banned from driving."
  • "Today is the last day to pay your ticket... We reserve the right to prosecute you."

It’s important to note that the DVSA doesn’t issue parking fines or deal with parking penalties. These messages are fraudulent and are meant to scare you into providing personal information or making payments. Do not fall for it!

What to Do if You Receive a Scam Message:

  • Do not respond or click any links in the text message.
  • If you've already shared personal information or made a payment, you can find guidance on how to protect yourself here.

For more details, you can read the full DVSA update on the Government’s website here.
