Team: Damp, Mould and Disrepair

Roles available covering: Somerset/Dorset, Wiltshire/Swindon/Surrey, Milton Keynes/Bedford/Luton, Reading

We’re on the hunt for someone to join our Damp, Mould and Disrepair team on a flexible basis. If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to help us to support our customers, this could be the role for you!

The Damp, Mould and Disrepair team are a crucial part of Stonewater. We know that damp and mould can be incredibly distressing to live with, and there can be many different causes. Our team are experts in diagnosing the issue, working in a proactive and forward thinking way to make improvements and ensure homes are safe and comfortable for our customers.

As a Property Inspector in the team, you’ll inspect homes and report back to the team with your findings, make sure work carried out by our contractors is done to a high standard and work closely with your colleagues to make sure we’re delivering the best possible service.

The role is completely flexible and you can work around your commitments. In return, we can offer you ongoing training, equipment and one-to-one support.

If you’ve got suitable qualifications to diagnose property defects and identify repairs needed, a strong knowledge of the causes of dampness and mould growth and a full UK driving license, we can’t wait to hear from you!

Still not sure? Hear what our Property Inspector, David, has to say:

One of the greatest advantages of the Property Inspector role is its flexibility. It allows you to manage your own schedule, making it ideal for those balancing other commitments.

This role is perfect for:

  • Students – You can schedule inspections around your studies, ensuring work fits seamlessly into your routine.
  • Those transitioning careers – It offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in property inspections while maintaining other employment.
  • Semi-retired professionals or those seeking part-time work – If you prefer a lighter workload, you can take on just a few inspections per week.
  • Experienced Surveyor - Those wanting to be a part of the organisation, Stonewater is constantly growing and is a awesome organisation to work for.

In my case, I left my previous employer and decided to commit to full-time hours as a trial period. It has proven to be an effective and rewarding experience, providing both professional growth and financial stability.

This role is an excellent opportunity for trainees, experienced surveyors, or those looking to enter the field of property inspections. It allows you to build expertise in damp, mould, and disrepair assessments while offering the autonomy to work at your own pace.

To find out more about the role, please email employability@stonewater.org with your CV and our team will be in touch.
