Supporting you with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
We want to make sure your communities are welcoming and safe places to live, and we are here to support you if you’re experiencing ASB.
We know that sometimes it can be hard to know what counts as ASB, and what steps you can take, so we want to share some examples of how we’ve worked with customers to take action and make a difference.
Here’s a real case our team recently resolved…
For months, a household in Coventry caused serious problems for their neighbours and the wider community, with customers reporting ongoing incidents involving violence, threats and intimidation.
Sadly, the behaviour caused many neighbours to feel afraid and unsafe. These incidents were also taking up huge amounts of police and emergency service time, with regular callouts to the same address.
Despite challenges in gathering evidence (due to neighbours being understandably scared), our dedicated ASB team worked closely with the police, local customers and legal experts to build a strong case, showing just how serious and persistent the issues were.
We applied for a full injunction (a court order that prevents someone from doing something) against the six individuals involved. This was successfully granted by the court. They agreed the community was at risk, and so also put into place an exclusion zone (banning the individuals from the property and the surrounding estate), and a power of arrest (meaning the police can arrest any of them immediately if they break the order).
We hope that this outcome sends a clear message: this type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will take strong action to protect our communities.
Thanks to the hard work of our ASB team and partner organisations, local customers can now feel safer in their homes. Emergency services can also focus their time on those who need help, rather than returning to the same property over and over again. We’re incredibly proud of the result!
